The Baltimore area dermatology office now offers Juvederm Voluma for mid-face and cheek enhancement – the latest product from Allergan, the makers of Botox®

Hunt Valley, MD – The board-certified dermatologists, Drs. Robert Weiss, Margaret Weiss and Karen Beasley of Maryland Dermatology Laser Skin and Vein Institute are proud to be the first aesthetic medical practice in greater Baltimore to offer Juvederm Voluma, the newest product from Allergan.

The makers of Botox® received approval by the Food and Drug Administration on October 23, 2013, Juvéderm Voluma is approved for mid-face and cheek augmentation in individuals with diminished volume in the mid-face and cheek area. This is the first volumizing filler approved to specifically treat this problem area.

“Having a hyaluronic acid injectable for mid-face augmentation is a huge benefit to our practice,” said Dr. Robert Weiss. “Voluma now provides us with a complete tool kit of fillers, allowing us to treat a wide range of treatment needs.”

Approved to last up to two years, Juvederm Voluma is currently available with lidocaine integrated into the filler for a more comfortable procedure when compared to the product without an anesthetic. In clinical studies, 86% of patients had at least a one-point correction in cheek fullness at 6 months after initial treatment. More than 75% of subjects reported an improvement in their overall satisfaction with their facial appearance at two years after their last treatment.

“In the past, our patients did not have a great hyaluronic acid option for replacing lost volume in the mid-face,” comments Dr. Karen Beasley. “Fillers are not one-size-fits-all, so having a hyaluronic acid designed to lift the cheeks is ideal.”

Only a select group of physicians currently have access to Juvederm Voluma, with a more expanded launch to follow in the coming months. Juvederm Voluma, marketed as part of the Juvederm family, is a more viscous version of Juvederm, making it the perfect consistency for enhancing deeper volume deficits, like the cheeks.
